Mari Kubota, L.Ac.
I grew up in North Carolina with the influence of my father, who is an Ishizaka-ryu style Japanese acupuncturist. From an early age I had an interest in healing work. Both of my parents are macrobiotic so we always used lots of home remedies and ate lots of brown rice.
I have been doing bodywork with patients since 2003, and both Reiki and Tui Na/Acupressure inform my acupuncture practice. Before moving to California to study acupuncture (I graduated from AIMC in Berkeley), I spent time learning Spanish in Honduras and Guatemala.
Along the way, I volunteered at Charlotte Maxwell Complementary Clinic in Oakland, a clinic that provides complementary care for women living with cancer, and Lyon-Martin Health Clinic in SF, a clinic that provides low/no cost healthcare to women and transgender people. Currently, I am working towards my NADA certification with a Spanish-speaking Women’s Survivors Group is SF.
